There are more men named John in positions of leadership across America than there are women in leadership roles.* Period.

We’re here to change that.

MENTORSHIP FOR WOMEN OF COLOR IN MEDIA & TECH

Let’s match 100,000 women of color with female leaders through mentorship

As women, our biggest hurdle to professional success isn’t a glass ceiling; it’s a broken rung — that first step of being promoted from entry-level roles to managers.

Passing that first rung on the ladder happens less often and at a slower pace for women, which is a systemic barrier to entry we need to fix.

Our mission is to match 100,000 ambitious women of color in media and tech with successful, female leaders to help them climb that ladder (and all of its rungs) from day one. You with us?

Let’s change these numbers together

8.2%

of the Fortune 500 companies are led by female CEOs—only 4 of those 41 women are WOC, and not one of them is Latina.2

27%

of C-suite positions in media and entertainment are held by women, even though women account for nearly 50% of the industry’s workforce.3

34.4%

of the workforce at America’s biggest tech companies is female—but only 1 in 4 women actually hold tech jobs.4

BECOME A MENTOR

You earned your seat at the table—now, it’s their turn

We see you. We know the hurdles you overcame to make it to the top, to get that seat where your voice is heard. Now you have a chance to put your knowledge and resources to work as part of systemic change.

According to the World Economic Forum, none of us will see gender parity in our lifetime and neither will any of our children and likely our grandchildren. At the current rate of change, they estimate we won’t reach gender equality in the United States for 200+ years, until 2227.

We believe it’s our responsibility as successful women to raise it forward—to share our positions of power, networks and knowledge with ambitious, emerging professional BIWOC.

It’s difficult to climb the corporate ladder if the rungs are broken, but through mentorship we believe professional equality and representation are not only possible, they’re inevitable.

Join us in creating space and elevating the diverse female leaders of tomorrow.

“I didn’t understand the importance of formal mentorship until my boss referred me to Raise Women. They paired me with a powerhouse executive who showed me the value of staying true to myself and not minimizing my voice in a male-dominated field. Her openness about her experiences, failures and successes, helped me gain the confidence to speak up and take chances.”

HOW IT WORKS

One mentee, six months, switch

We get it: You’re busy. It’s hard to squeeze in another zoom on your calendar. We make it simple and doable to become a mentor: Just give 1 hour a month for 12 months.

1. Apply

Apply to be a mentor, and we’ll match you with an ambitious BIWOC starting her career in media and tech —who doesn’t have access to female leaders like you.

2. Mentor

Meet with your mentee once a month for six months. No prep, no homework, no other commitments, just an hour of your time to provide insight gained from your experience.

3. Switch

After six months, we’ll switch it up with a new mentee. After your first year, you choose if you’d like to donate 12 more hours to two new mentees.

DIVERSITY IN BUSINESS

Women are nearly half the labor force, but only a third of managers—and caucasian women hold the majority of those positions.

WHY RAISE WOMEN?

From humble beginnings

As the founders of Raise Women, we know what it’s like to start a career without any ins or special treatment. We worked hard to get to where we are today, and we want to make it easier for the next generation of ambitious women to do the same.
